The major issues in this term project were discovering the effects of Narcissistic Personality Disorder on casual attributions examining the attributional style of individuals with Narcissistic Personality Disorder examining whether or not narcissistic individuals display more day to day variability and extremity in their emotions than less narcissistic individuals if there are differences in self-conceptions between narcissists and other individuals that mediate or moderate such affective reactivity if this emotional reactivity is related to general mood or to more specific self-related affect and if these affective reactions are linked to specific kinds of events And also to compare the methods of assessing narcissism Key questions were what are the differential views of narcissism what is the makeup of a Narcissistic Personality and what are the types and levels of narcissism as well as therapeutic treatment optionswhich are answered at end of summary Finding information of Narcissistic Personality Disorder was difficult I have found that it isnt a very frequently diagnosed personality disorder Resulting in difficulty finding out how frequently and what the nature of the research that is or has been done is There was however a connection of testing for NPD in the research that I did find these testing methods have been the consistent background of all of the information that I found So I conclude that the types of research being done are mostly by way of administrating detection tests I have found that most researchers agree that NPD is characterized by the two-leveled personality organization On the first superficial and manifest level the grandiose self a pathological and uniquely narcissistic intrapsychic structure dominates On the second deeper and split-off level the real self of the narcissistic preexists Johnson S Many researcher also agree that the cardinal feature of the narcissistic personality is the grandiose sense of self importance but paradoxically underneath this grandiosity the narcissist suffers from a chronically fragile low self esteem It is the underlying sense of
