Shot 1 begins with a male character who we learn in shot 2 is called Uncle Jean standing in a room and looking out of a window while smoking a cigarette when hears someone enter his room and asks where am I who is this in a startled manner then he goes to sit down on the bed A young woman enters the room replies dont you remember me Carmen Uncle Jean responds to this by asking is she is Elizabeths daughter to which she replies yes They greet each other with a kiss on the cheek and he continues to smoke a cigarette on the bed while she takes a few steps walks offscreen and asks wont you ask why Im here Uncle Jean replies Sure It could provide dialogue then Carmen walks back onscreen sits down on a small table across from Uncle Jean pulls out a pack of cigarettes and Uncle Jean goes to light her cigarette and the film cuts ending shot 1 It should be noted that there is music playing during the end of the shot and sound effects throughout the shot indicate that he does not live alone The setting of the shot is a room with a bed similar to a bed found in a hospital next to the bed on one side is a small table with bright pink and yellow flowers and other indiscernible objects behind that table is an open window The window looks like the only source of light natural light for the room outside of the window there are other rows of windows in sight On the other side of the bed is a small desk with a lamp facing downward and a small white box Uncle Jean is wearing white pants and a white shirt with a black bathrobe similar to what an inpatient at a hospital or mental institution would wear while Carmen is wearing a brown coat and green
