In the Article Marriage and Divorce American Style E Mavis Hetherington argues against the policy maker idea of enforcing one -size- fits- all approach pointing out the complexity of marriage He acknowledges that dysfunctional is already display in the family before the divorce Hetherington states that policy makers one-size-fits-all discourage divorce encourages traditional marriage and object to same-sex and single family from raising children He is very compelling in making his point that policy makers should reconsider about enforcing one-size-fits-all because it do more harm than goodA major point Hetherington makes is that in an unhealthy marriage womens psychological and health problem would arise In his argument he reflects how many women are mentally and emotional disturbed in troubled marriage Hetherington asserts Women studies repeatedly have found are more sensitive to the emotional quality of marriage They benefit from being in a well- functioning marriage but in troubled marriage they are likely to experience depression immune- system break downs and other health- related problems 489 This shows that women in trouble relationship develop all kinds of health issue and mental anxiety In agreement to Hetherington researcher Marc Schulz associate professor ofpsychologyat Bryn Mawr College claims in article Emotion Revealed Trouble Marriages is that in distressed marriages men were more likely to display hostile emotions and an absence of empathy while women were more likely to express sadness and other vulnerable feelings along with an absence of empathy In an unhealthy marriage both parties experienced the anxiety attack and the lack of consolation For example my parents always fight and quarrel because they both could not understand each other After fighting my mom would be in distress and cry miserably However my dad would throw a tantrum at anything that is in his way They are not compatible as the result they fought constantly Most wives would try to please their husband so some may ignored their husbands corrosive behavior and kept all their concern
