Huck Finn Journal Freedom Chap1 pg1 The Widow Douglas she took me for her son and allowed she would sivilize me but it was rough living in the house all the time so when I couldnt stand it no longer I lit out into my rags and was free and satisfied but she always took me back Huck is having trouble adjusting to living with the widow He is accustomed to living free in the woods without worrying about possessions language or cleanliness Chap1 pg4 Pretty soon I wanted to smoke and asked the widow to let me but she wouldnt This is just another example of Huck losing his freedom as on his own he would have done what he wanted to Chap1 pg6 And then I put out the light and scrambled out of the window on to the shed Huck is exercising his longing for freedom by going out at night with Tom Chap2 pg6-12 Tom and Huck encounter Jim whose freedom is taken away because he is a slave Huck joins Toms gang and they plan to take peoples freedom away by holding them for ransom Chap3 pg12 Well I got a good going-over in the morning from old Miss Watson on account of my clothes This in part why Huck wants his freedom of doing what he likes because they want to civilize him Chap4 pg16 At first I hated school but by and by I got so I could stand it Whenever I got uncommonly tired I played hooky Huck doesnt like being caged in school but begins to like it because when he gets tired of it he can take a break anyway Ch5 pg19-23 Huck confronts his father who spends some time with the judge and stops drinking but begins again So as his freedom isnt taken Ch 24 So he watched
