Bridget's feedback:
"This essay shows an impressive engagement with the existing scholarship beyond the text, though I appreciated that you included your own reader response as well. This helps in developing ethos and creating a deeper portrait of the play and its themes and characters. My main note is that fairly frequent instances of awkward phrasing or syntax obscures immediate reception of meaning. This forces the reader to spend time deciphering rather than attending to the ideas. There is a good sense of flow and narrative, as well as organization, in the writing, so this task may be a matter of cleaning up or finetuning diction or other local stylistic elements. Consider starting with instances of passive voice, which tends to add extra words and alienates actions, forcing the reader to puzzle out the main thrust of a claim."
