After reading Platos Allegory of the Cave one can only agree with Socrates when he states that the power and capacity of learning exists in the soul already Plato 282 this is easily interpreted as meaning that humans are born with the natural strength potential and desire for learning without the help of others As Socrates speaks he implies that if people didnt have the aid of others they would still learn despite the absence of someone to walk them through life Though many children are aided through life and guided to learn life experiences it is quite obvious that a child will be able to learn some life skills necessary for survival without the help from others In other words children are born with an innate potential to learn essential skills by themselves Even today aside from all the guidance children get from adults there are still a number of things children learn by themselves babies learn to crawl by themselves and as they mature some toddlers learn to walk without the help from anyone This knowledge is instinctive almost automatic and not a knowledge that a child must learn Some may agree that children are given the constant guidance from their parents which aids them in gaining some knowledge such as the ability of learning to crawl or walk by themselves They do not believe that children are not born with natural instincts to learn on their own But to the contrary there are other examples which support Socrates statement If the power and capacity of learning does not already exist in the soul then what would explain how far humans have come today Benjamin Franklin was one of the first men to experiment with electricity which also resulted to the invention of the first battery and without batteries we would not have pagers cell phones or many other things we use today Without assistance or any previous knowledge
