The title Pride and Prejudice holds a very significant meaning in the novel Nearly all the characters in the novel have some sort of pride as well as some sort of prejudice The reasons for their pride and prejudice vary from character to character but they are common characteristics found in almost all the characters I believe that both pride and prejudice are very common in the Bennett household Mrs Bennett is very biased towards Jane Mrs Bennett tells everybody how much more beautiful Jane is than any of the other girls She assumes that Jane will have to make a good marriage in order to support herself as well as the rest of her daughters Mrs Bennett is also a very proud person For example she becomes very upset when Mr Darcy will not dance with Elizabeth She will not forgive him until the very end of the novel when Elizabeth marries him She is very proud of her family and anything that could be taken as an insult she does take as an insult Mr Bennett is also a very proud man He is very proud of both Jane and Elizabeth but he thinks that the rest of his daughters are silly Since he prefers Elizabeth the most out of all his daughters he is prejudice for her He respects her opinion the most and enjoys her company more than any other daughter Elizabeth is a very proud person She is proud of her family even though she can see the faults in it She also will not give in to anyones opinion If someone has an opinion that is opposite to her opinion than the other person is automatically wrong in her mind Elizabeth is also very prejudice against Mr Darcy She does not give him a chance because she believes that he is prejudice It is only after he has proved to her that he is a good man that she
