Jose Alvarez Rap and Rock Musics Negative Influence on Teens Today Rap and rock music influence teenagers in several different ways these days Many people feel it can persuade people to do violent acts or sets a bad example The Parents Music Resource Center PMRC says that listening to heavy metal music leads to antisocial behavior like juvenile delinquency breakup of the family rise in satanic cults and teen suicidePMRC3 Many suicides and cases of adolescent depression are blamed on a certain bands songs and or images Others blame music for what people consider being young people rebelling against society or joining cults and worshipping Satan Music has also been found to change peoples attitudes towards clothing or other products they buy Just look at the clothes that people who listen to rap music wear They usually wear baggy jeans everything is name brand and have an I do not give a fk look Many young people of this generation between the ages of ten and twenty live for music They have become obsessed with music as if nothing else matters When people are reading and listening to lyrics or going to concerts they are exposed to sex violence and drugs which have a negative influence and plague the music world The lyrics and beat of many songs we hear again influence our children Lyrics like I want to fk you like an animal from Closer by Nine Inch Nails is a prime example of cause and effect Patterson Jason 5 When children hear these words they have to go out and try it for themselves and along with other influences we have twelve eleven and even ten year olds trying sex and getting pregnant Such sexual beats also come from CDs that are just bass Everyone has experienced sitting at a stoplight when a car pulls up next to you with his or her radio so loud your car starts
