With the relationships we develop in life we often face many obstacles and challenging times that can tear a relationship apart They each require certain commitments understandings and most definitely communication It takes two loving determined people to make a relationship last and stay healthy From my understanding lacking these crucial characteristics make it hard for a relationship to endeavor In the short story Shiloh by Bobbie Ann Mason Norma jean and Leroy had an unusual relationship that was on its way to diminishing after being married at such a young age After reading this story it made me think about how many people get married at such a young age and it ending up in divorce or being unhappyThroughout this story there were many situations that I could reflect on and relate to in my life At the beginning of the story Leroy is injured and put on disability and is too scared to go back to work This situation sounded familiar too me after something quite like this happened to my uncle My uncle worked on a farm and a tractor turned on him injuring his back and shortly after he was put on disability and was unable to work After being home all the time with his wife they divorced shortly after they had their first kid They were both at a young age and I think with him being home and unable to work put a strain on their relationship which ended terribly I remember the very first time reading this story and thinking back to that certain situation In Shiloh their relationship is very monotonous and Norma Jean has a hard time adjusting to Leroy being home all the time 68Another happening in the story I can relate to is losing someone Leroy and Norma Jean have their first kid together when they were 18
