Abigail and Her Multiple Facades In Arthur Millers The Crucible he examines the horrendous trials of Salem witches Miller specifically examines the trial of some little girls accused of witch craft and satanic acts This trial is a special case though merle because it is mostly based on a lie conjured up by a conniving misleading tramp The name of this girl is Abigail Williams and her antics to try to make everyone look guilty but herself even if it means people might die Throughout the novel you will see the many traits Abigail portrays Within this essay some of Abigails worst traits will be examined Abigail is considered a witch in the play because her and some of her friends were considered witches for dancin naked in the woods Abigail actually admits to doing witch like actions Uncle we did dance let you tell them I confessed it1039 in the forest This is known because her uncle Reverend Parris caught her dancing with her friend one of which is his daughter I have a sense of for heat John and yours has drawn me to my window and I have seen you looking up burning in your loneliness Do you tell me youve never looked up at my window1046 Abigail is addressing John Proctor declaring her love and sexual interest in him This is one of numerous examples throughout the book where most would consider Abigail a little adulteress The fact is though after she was tried as a witch she actually left Salem and was a prostitute in other cities This is why Abigail was so ingenious she was able to control a lot of people by using her different personalities to get what she wanted I never called him Tituba Tituba1057 When Abigail was on trial and being accused of talking to the devil she had to get out of it So she decided to be manipulative
