Auguste Renoir used Impressionism in his art He made paintings of river resorts in Paris and painted people He would make paintings that captured generalities in nature and people He had an extensive collection of paintings made I liked the painting Oarsmen at Chatou It made me feel like I was there as if I had visited that place before and the painting was just reminding me In addition I like the colors used Pierre only used five different colors on his palette As a porcelain painter he had learned how to combine complimentary colors Renoir made many paintings I have only seen a miniscule portion I do like the work that I have seen It is so general but it gets the point across if there was one His illustrations show simple things and come to life with his five colors of paint The blurry impressionist style would lead you to think it was sloppy and lacked detail but if you look at the picture as a whole and saw what the blurs formed I believe you can find beauty in it Donald Judd who was born in Missouri the year of 1928 studied philosophy and then art at Columbia University in New York 1959 to 1965 he worked as an art critic He began work as a painter in the later 40s His work consisted of sculpting painting and three-dimensional objects which he called specific objects In 1963 he created a mini vocabulary which consisted of the words stacks boxes and progressions He continued for the next thirty years doing so Many of his works consisted of industrial material Donald labeled as a minimalist did small works around wartime I chose Donald because his sculpting work stood out compared to most artists I tried to sculpt once in high school art but found it difficult He was a minimalist and I too do like the idea of doing minimum work
