As we head towards the 21 century technology and medicine improves our life Technology increase the efficiency to which we do our work increasing the standard of living Medicine improves our physical and mental being But for this to be true we have to add another aspect Physical activity is also important to our well being Regular physical activity is one of the best methods of health insurance for individuals As mentioned above technology has improved our lifestyles dramatically Task which took skilled people are now being done with computers and robots This increases quantity quality and efficiency All this increase our standard of living Therefore leisure time increases It is suppose too but to an extent this is not true Evidence show that with increasing automation we are carrying our work home with us This decreases leisure time making individuals less active physically This is a small example of the leisure paradox Medicine has also improved our lives Medicine has eliminated many diseases which can lead to death The life expectancy of an average human during the 1800s range from 45 to 55 years of age But because of medicine this has change to a life expectancy of about 80 year North American Some people are even living 100 years which is a slowly growing trend Medicine also includes doctors Doctors have also increased our health By diagnostic checkups they can determine what precautions should be done in order to be more healthy One prescription is regular physical exercise It is commonly acknowledge in the scientific community and the fitness industry that physical activity and exercise exert a positive impact on many aspects of health This is especially true for adults Seeing that most adults do not get the recommended amount of daily exercise and this is due to lack of leisure Benefits of physical activity has a wide range of positive attribute on health Decrease in Coronary heart disease
