Maturity is being fully developed in the body and the mind as a person Jem is starting to fully mature in the body and mind through different events throughout To Kill a Mockingbird Boo Radley is a very strange and particular man through the eyes of Jem but he also helps him mature greatly Tom Robinson and his case help Jem out tremendously in his maturing of the mind Atticus Finch helps Jem mature and shape him into a humble gentleman Even though Jem is very young the incidents he experiences with Boo Radley Tom Robinson and Atticus Finch help him mature intellectually and emotionallyBoo Radley to most is a cold hearted man but to Jem he is a very important figure in his life To Jem he helps him lose his prejudice against him Jem does this by giving Boo a thank you note for the gifts he found in the knot hole Jem has a strong feeling that these are gifts are given to them by Boo Radley to both him and Scout Jem talks to Atticus about this and says to him that aint ever harmed us aint hurt us Lee page 80 The quotation shows that Jem has now started to stop believe the gossip and lose all his prejudice for him After this talk with Atticus Jem feels compelled to write a thank you note to Boo Radley This shows that he is growing up and understanding that Boo is a great man In the begging Jem thought he was Six and a half feet tall dinned on squirrels had long jagged scar and his eyes popped Lee page 13 Now Jem knows him and sees him as a nice kind man that is willing to give more than to take By this Boo helps Jem not believe everything that he hears Since this event with Boo Jem doesnt judge people until he starts
