The Effect of Society on the Homeless in America As an advanced society we as a people have many races cultures and incomes In this great country we believe in life liberty and the pursuit of happiness These are rights that every American is given at birth We have the right to live as we wish as long as we do not infringe the rights of other citizens We do not have the option of discrimination in anyway that is deemed inappropriate by federal state and local law In order to sustain a model society we as whole are demanded to understand that people live their lives in different manners This aspect includes every tax and income bracket that our government has created Some argue that homelessness and poverse populations are effecting our society in a negative fashion However I disagree with this way of thinking Society as a whole has created many of the problems that the homeless and poverty stricken population face today I believe there to be three major constraints that effect that population in negative ways The first constraint I believe to hold plausible is the shift of industry in the mid-twentieth century The second is related to health and the third is the labeling effect of the homeless I believe that some may argue that a diverse job market has been available to people of all education and social status If this were true then industrious America would be a perfect world Many Americans believe that industries have stayed stationary from their beginnings as major business And this leaves many with the misperception that the homeless are a group of lazy unmotivated people However I believe this to be very untrue Manual labor has not always been available and I believe has caused many Americans to lose jobs that they are only qualified to work This in turn left them
