The future of living on the Moon is near This subject was once a joke but now it is a not so distant reality Colonizing on the Moon is the stepping stone to exploring the rest of the universe Colonizing on the Moon could also provide the Earth with resources at a cheaper cost The US has already started to conduct studies to make colonization possible on the Moon There is even a new space craft in the works to go to the Moon and beyond Can this really be done And is it really worth the cost These are the questions that have slowed up the progress of exploration so far but soon they will be answered There are many advantages to colonizing on the Moon The main advantage is that it could open the doors to the rest of the universe There is a vast amount of information that can be learned by setting up a space colony on the Moon From the information scientists gain by colonizing on the Moon could be used for the success of all future colonization efforts Astronauts can practice living working and conducting science on the Moon before taking longer and the more risky trips like to Mars Therefore NASA has begun to study the effects of long-term exploration would have on the astronauts and how they can use the environment to their advantage The environment on the Moon is almost a perfect vacuum The temperatures can range from below zero degrees at night to 250 degrees Fahrenheit in the sunlight A full day and night on the Moon is about 30 days here on Earth Nasa 2003 The Moons surface is continuously stricken by high energy particles micrometeorites and solar radiation Currently there isnt evidence that the Moon has any source of food or liquid water on the Moon that astronauts could benefit from With all of that in mind it sounds like a place that
