Sometimes human beings do inexplicable acts choices and decisions in order to defend themselves or to gain what they want at any cost for a valuable reason In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller the character Abigail William is a great example of a human being that would do anything to get what she want for valuable reasons even though she is often viewed as conniving and evil As a result of her childhood Abigail may be acting out of loneliness heartbroken for being spurned by her lover and also out of dealing with such an oppressive Puritan society that would often look down upon women that would not follow their religious authority Having considered that in the play The Crucible Abigail William is often viewed as a conspiring and evil young girl it is important to think and ask why she did such acts As a young orphan Abigail has faced various traumatic experiences in her life that she has kept in her sub-consciousness Such evidence of horrible undergo is immediately reveal when Abigail said I saw Indians smash my dear parents heads on the pillow next to mine And I have seen some reddish work done at night Miller 20 in this quote Abigail shares one of the most traumatizing event that happen to her as a child which was watching her parents be murdered by Indians right in front of her eyes Such dreadful experience could have left her mentally damaged for as long as she lives in this case such encounter may be the reason why she acts out so aggressive towards people that could be harmful to her and those who she feel close to Beside to Abigails traumatic painful encounters she also has no choice but to live
