The Merchant Of Venice written by William Shakespeare is a comedy about a cruel Jewish moneylender Shylock who seeks revenge on a Christian merchant Antonio who defaulted on a loan In this play many different aspects of love were expressed As they say love is the strongest force the world possesses It has the ability to change ones opinion or decision and can affect someone greatly But in what ways can love be expressed If the love is real commit trust and have faith If it was meant to be nothing should be able to withstand it As said in the play But love is blind and lovers cannot see 2637 Do not judge with your eyes but with your heart It is the only instrument that emphasizes what we feel instead of see Commitment is also an important factor when it comes to love It presents the effort put towards a relationship and how important the relationship is Happiest of all is that her gentle spirit commits itself to yours to be directed as from her lord her governor her king 32167-169 Portia is willing to commit herself entirely to Bassanio and give him everything she owns in attribute of her love And undoubtedly Bassanio returns the love by putting her first Antonio I am married to a wife which is as dear to me as life itself 41294-295 Beyond doubt they both show mutual feelings Tarry a little because there is more to love than just sex and marriage There is also the love in friendships This is strongly expressed through the relationship between Antonio and Bassanio To you Antonio I owe the most in money and in love 11137-138 Antonio is always there to lend Bassanio money no matter what the situation is
