"It's clear you know how to execute a close-read and analysis of a text, and your use of the gender lens ensures a focused and specific discussion. Your point about each woman representing their societies is a good one. Your discussion, however, features a number of misreadings of Conrad's text that undermine the overall project (e.g., the mistress is not a symbol for innocence); in diagnosing the slippage, I would suggest the analysis relies overmuch on a too general context of literary device and trope rather than the specific context and conversation regarding Conrad's text. However, if you want to advance those points, you will need to take a few steps backwards and build the argument up from a more defensive position, first addressing the common readings of the text, and then explaining why those analyses are wrong and why your conclusion can fill in that space."
