Historian B By Vincent McGlory In the document concerning the hysteria surrounding the Salem Witch trials Historian B appears to have the most reasonable andor valid reason for the crazed dilemma According to him it was the boredom of 3 young teenage minds and the anxiety of the adults that brought about this hysteria However if the people of Salem had been a little more reasonable and less nave had they not been so eager to get back at their fellow neighbors perhaps the hysteria would have never taken the toll which it did The author uses samples and proof to portray how tense situations were becoming in the city He tells of how there were land disputes among the people which would eventually cause hatred towards another therefore giving the civilian reason to want to convict hisher fellow neighbor of being a witch The historian gives direct accounts of how minor the disputes were In many cases the accused and the accused hardly even knew each other People began using any reason at all to accuse someone The authors samples of these minor ridiculous disputes do prove the point that tensions among the people was like throwing gasoline on the fire in this crazed hysteria The author assumes that due to all this hostility towards others within the town people were more likely to believe the girls The author is able to back up his belief by giving the reader specific historical examples of the accounts of some trials Therefore he does not fail how to give good support for his conclusion however the author does not eliminate the possibility of another alternative Although it seems that Historian B did not acknowledge that perhaps his assumption is just coincidental it does back up his main argument He assumed that people would pay close attention to the girls and not once doubt that the girls were being honest Yet he fails to even mention
