The article is about a town called Delacroix whose peoples economy is based in fishing and as the author says Delacroix and nearby bayou communities are a world apart All bayou area is very inhospitable with a lot of shrimp boats and little houses on the stilts With the testimony of Curtis Morales an inhabitant of this zone we can infer that people is very cooperative and support each other specially when he says If one person drowns they all drown It is mentioned that many people there is related somehow because most of them are descendants of Spaniards who came mainly from Canary Islands in late eighteenth century Thats why they are called Isleos Morales says that culture there is changing few people speaks Spanish in contrast with past times when it was de dominant language Irvan Perez who is trying to keep the traditional songs called dcimas alive says that it used to be a close community where you couldnt hide anything Now there are no more dance halls small grocery stores and things like that fishermen are being replaced by big companies A problem between sport and commercial fishermen took place in Delacroix the sportsmen group GCCA decided that nets should be banned because the population of some fisher were decreasing Delacroix fishermen tried to protest but nets were banned anyways Finally Eddy Montelongo another resident of Delacroix says that the decision of banning the nets is unfair because they have to subsist At the end of the article he doesnt complaint of his live but he feels proud of the equality between Delacroixs people
