During my analysis of two news paper articles concerning measure A printed by the Monterey County Herald I found that the news coverage was factual and objective while the editorial was also factual but was also very subjective information The Heralds article by Tom Akeman titled Coastal panel questions Measure A was a very factual report on measure A and how the coastal commission views measure A Akeman presented many factual points on what measure A was and how it would affect Monterey Countys nature preserves Amid all of the factual information presented there is definitely an anti measure A attitude from both the reporter and the coastal commission throughout the article The author uses many quotes from the Coastal commissions representative Tami Grove witch dont support measure A For example Grove stated that It would be difficult to imagine us recommending approval of measure A as submitted Akemans anti measure A views are also present in his factual information about measure A witch he presented in the closing of his report Fore instance to support his opinion Akeman states The query where the equestrian center might be relocated includes protected wetlands a conservation easement and an unmet 14-year-old commitment to restore the area that provided development materials f or the Spanish Bay resort Akeman closes his report by saying that the proposed site of the new golf course contains at least three endangered plants In a letter to the editor of the Monterey County Herald Maxine Hitchcock asks who needs measure A The editor of the herald responds to this question with his subjective opinion on measure A The editorial is very clearly against measure A in the first paragraph the editor asks Why do we need a county wide election to save the forests from the owners of Pebble Beach -self described non developers Is someone holding a gun to The Pebble Beach company and forcing it
