Besides providing entertainment feature film may present powerful comments on society as a whole This is the case in the film The Castle in which attitudes and values of The Typical Aussie Battler are portrayed against high powered government authorities It is often noticeable that these attitudes and values presented give society an understanding of itself and the larger world In The Castle attitudes and values towards belongings has been developed through the use of camera angles and shots On many occasions during the film a shot of the front of the house is shown usually during change of scenes This use of camera angles represents the house as an important belonging to the Kerrigans the owners of the house which has been compulsory acquired by the government to extend an airport The Kerrigans obviously value their home and what they have made of it This is also represented by the Pool Room A room in the house which holds great value to the Kerrigans This has been developed through the use of close ups of particular objects and panning across to show the sentimental value they have for past memories held within the objects This evidence suggests that the filmmakers have purposely used this to show that society should value their belongings no matter how much it may be worth to others in this case a government authority Juxta positioning is a technique used often during the film The Castle A camera shot showing some scrub near the Kerrigans place is followed by a low angle shot of power lines This may represent that Australian society once valued the bush but now value modern technology Another example is when Darryl Kerrigan the Father is in court he is wearing a quite relaxed outfit brown leather jacket and jeans He is then juxtaposed against a neatly dressed and tidy lawyer which makes Darryl seem quite uneducated However even though he seems to be uneducated he
