As I wake up every week day I find it so hard to get out of bed as I think to myself I would give anything just to sleep in a little longer I know for a factthat I am not the only teenager that feels this way Its not just the luxury ofsleeping in that effects teenagers according to the Washington Post Americanteenagers are getting far less sleep than they need and their health behaviorand academic performance are suffering as a resultBased in part on Dr Mary Carskadons research some US schools havechanged their schools start time Most these schools are moving there startingtimes back to times around 900am because it makes it easier for the studentsto learn and pay attention in class Guajome Park Academy high school starts at745 am in the morning From 745 to about 900 is when i have math andorGerman depending on the day in the time span of these classes some people willexperience tiredness irritability edginess and problems with memory says DrLindsley Parent news says that 20 of all high school students fall asleep inschool during this timeThe majority of teenagers need 9 to 10 hours of sleep a day If your astudent at Guajome Park Academy then you need to go to bed at 900pm and wakeup at 600am to get a good nine hours of sleep every day Now how many peopledo you know that go to bed at 900 every day Even if they go to bed at 900they are not likely to fall asleep till after 1100 so that leaves them witheven less sleep But most adolescents are talking on the telephone watchinglate- night TV they have a big test tomorrow or have too much homework to doand not enough time to do it before bedtime since he or she didnt get back fromthe movies or where ever they were until 700 pmAs a teenager i find it hard to go to bed at
