In the play Trifles by Susan Glaspell it shows that it took place at a different time Not only the way it was written but also the characters had a very manner Especially their mind sets The men had the power while the women would have their duties at home Also the women didnt really have a say in many things within this play In this case it was in the crime The men always felt more superior to women they believed their thoughts and inputs were more important then the women never giving a women the benefit of the doubt Such as when they came across multiple clues along with the motive of the murder also shown within the symbols of the playAs the men go about in the play and seem to not have a clue as to what caused the murder which shows that the little things being ignored are important Something that the men have no interest in or care to look into them There is evidence that show the men disregarding what the women think and take it as a joke Seen when the sheriff and country attorney talk about the mess in Mrs Wrights kitchen Glaspell 897 They begin right away insulting her kitchen on how it is a mess and it should always be nice and neat To the men the kitchen is where the women belong and it says a lot about them Both Mrs Hale and Mrs Peters argue and tell the men that they also have many duties to take care of not only just the kitchen Later on the women find a quilt that Mrs Wright was knitting as the men walk in to the womens conversation the sheriff makes a joke as to if Mrs Wright was either going to quilt or knot it Glaspell 898 Little did the men know that the quilt was knit wrong because she was nervous from killing
