Ulfat Al-Idilbi a Syrian author born in Damascus came from a privileged family As a teenager she was affected by the Syrian revolt against the French mandate rule in 1920 At age 17 she married a German trained physiologist Dr Hamdi Al-IdilbiIn her article The Breeze of Youth Ulfat contrasts the lives between a grandmother and a granddaughter She claims that girls back then lived under the burden of traditions and restrictions while girls of the new generation had a free unfettered life and were enthusiastic The essay is about a grandmother getting mad at her granddaughter because she is preparing herself in front of the mirror When the granddaughter leaves home she started accusing her own father of nipping her youth in the bud and not getting an education She also started recalling herself when she was 14 years old and in love with a young salesclerk showing feelings for him She really wanted to see him but her father got a bag full of one hundred gold pounds from the ugly old man asking for the payment for his daughters handUlfat surely got her point across but she had some fallacies hasty generalization circular reasoning ad hominem false analogy and causal fallacy In addition she didnt explain to the audience what Rajab means and what the story of the Miraj is Lastly she didnt say who the author of a specific quote was A fallacy is a false reasoning when someone attempts to persuade without adequate evidence or with arguments that are irrelevant Hasty generalization is when an author makes a conclusion from too little evidence All women do that accept me is one example To look pretty not all women put on makeup Some women look pretty by wearing dresses and jewelries Circular reasoning is another fallacy that Ulfat had committed An example of it is there is no god but God The third fallacy that she had in her essay was
