How is it possible for something that kills so many people to belegal in a country that boasts the supreme protection of its citizensTobacco is literally destroying thousands of lives everyday and allattempts toward putting the tobacco problem to an end have been unsuccessful Something must be done effectively to stop the rapidgrowth of tobacco abusers and victims In the following paragraphs Iwill provide strong points of support which ultimately favor theillegalization of tobacco in the US I will first start with the lighterside of the problem which is the economic loss the individualsCuriosity may arise from the statement of economic loss beingthe lighter side of the problem but considering the other possiblesetbacks to be explained later the loss of money should be of far lessconcern By pointing out the amount of money the American peoplespend annually on tobacco products it is possible to make apparent the strong addiction taking toll through the use of tobacco Tobaccocompanies make around 14 and 19 trillion dollars a year This is anawful large amount of American money spent on something that in noway promotes healthy living but is rather damaging Individualsspend an absurd average of 900 a year on cigarettes chewingtobacco cigars snuff and other tobacco products It is sad to thinkthese addicted individuals could have a wonderful trip to Hawaii butinstead are involved and blinded by a filthy habit It is quiteastonishing how much people are willing to pay for their use oftobacco but it is even more astonishing at what age many of theseIt is a fact more than 3000 kids begin smoking everyday in theUS At this rate there will be 1095000 new kids smoking a year Anextremely large number of new smokers which is actually largerwhen considering the amount of adults who begin smoking This isjust the statistics for smokers Other tobacco users such as peoplewho chew add a good deal to the statistic of new tobacco users
