Bridget's feedback:
"This is a detailed discussion that gives each text enough breathing room to explore the tropes and characters. As you move toward your final submission, I recommend a focus on language, syntax, and prose. Tightening up certain moments using streamlining edits and more precise diction can be done without losing the lyrical quality of your writing; aim for clarity and succinctness, especially when making a claim.
Other tasks are likewise detail oriented. The framework of childhood provides consistency, but make sure it doesn't push your essay too far into a different topic--unless you want it to, in which case you will need to expand the scope of your research, sources, and the explicit analytical framework. Even in a literary analysis, claims like "Since young children are easily influenced" (para. 1) and "every child has had a bad habit of some time or another" should be supported, if only with an in-text citation; if your assignment doesn't allow other sources, moderate the language (e.g., "Children are no stranger to bad habits").
Proofreading should be used to catch occasional typos or errors, and check your style guide for formatting long quotations and titles. Finally, don't skip over key information for the reader. Frodo being "betrayed by one of the members of his own traveling company" should name names, as it were, or the reader can't follow the point with precision."
