When I was eleven years old I went through an experience that not only changed the way I lived it changed my entire outlook on life and relationships That was the day that my parents told me they were not going to live together anymore at the time I was too young to understand the full extent of what was about to happen I wasnt sure what to expect what would happen to our family but I was scared of what was going to ensueMy parents divorce was no surprise it was sure that it would happen sooner or later but in my mind it was much sooner than I had thought I felt frightened that I was unaware of what my future would hold for my younger brother and me As time progressed Ibegan to feel the extent of the situation that after this point nothing will be the sameFrom then on how I lived and the relationships with my parents changed tremendously and before I knew it my dad was living in a whole new house and every thing changed Although the result of this change was far from predictablePerhaps the largest change was how I viewed my parents With them separate I was able to connect with them on a deeper level which created a stronger bond between us Because of the increase in the amount of time we are able to spend together I was able to see them as individuals and understand them a great deal more As time has progressed there parenting styles began to contrast greater By seeing these two great examples of parenting perspectives I can take what they have taught me and pass those traits on into my own life Although they do not work as a unit to parent us they have proved that they can be just as effective if not more showing us how to become responsible
