Theism and Atheism In the following paper I will discuss a religious theme After the making the decision of a theme I decided that theism and atheism most interested me I will be discussing the difference between the two and giving some general information about both theism and atheism Both if these had many highs and low points that I would like to go into some detail I will discuss theism first Theism comes from the word Theos which is Greek for god One who is theist believes in one god and is personal and worthy of worship He or she also transcends the world but takes an active interest in it Theism also reveals purpose for human beings and this is done with miraculous events sacred writings and through particular people God is also considered to be personal if he can be understood by analogies which are drawn from human experience This is also done if human beings can enter into personal relation with him With such a god he is considered worthy of worship This is because he is believed to be orally perfect and infinitely powerful Another words theism is the belief in any god or gods with most of the time it being philosophical and theological usage Theism is from monotheism which is the belief in only one god and in contrast pantheism is the belief that god is completely immanent There are many other terms that go along with theism Some of the words that are also connected with theism are one deism which is the belief that god is the one that created the world and then had no other connection with it Two others that are contrasted with theism are agnosticism and atheism which I will be discussing next Atheism is the next term that I want to discuss Atheism comes from the prefix a which means without and then the also from the Greek
