A The idea came to me one day in a tattoo parlor I was with a goodfriend who was showing me where she used to work She really wanted meto see the mural that was on the ceiling There was footprints ofeveryone who was or had worked there in black paint The printscrisscrossed over each other and it appeared as a bunch of strangepatterns It was such busy design that it reminded me of a superhumanwar Q Are any of the characters in your book based off of any of yourpersonal friendsA No character in particular is based on anyone I know However I havenoticed a few similarities between some characters and some friends Idid not do that intentionally though I realized some of Simons friendsin the book have the same names as some of my friends Erik Kirk andMatt are all real people and they are all people in my story but thiswas coincidental Q Do you have any book recommendationsA I have tons Most of the books I read are of the same genre as Cityof Bones I enjoy the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer the Hunger Gamesseries by Suzanne Collins and anything by Robin McKinley My favoritebook is Pegasus by McKinley I read it all the timeQ Do you have any certain places you like to write Do you write aloneA I have a small office but I only used it occasionally when I amwriting at home I prefer writing in coffee shops with my friends andfamily around When I am with people I have more inspiration I can getfeedback on whether what I say is confusing or not I find it harder towrite alone because I have no one to critique meQ Have you always wanted to be writer Why or why notA No I did not always want to be a writer I have always enjoyedreading and writing Honestly though I never thought it could amount toa career I thought
