Throughout our lives the people whom we have encountered have influenced us or had a certain impact on our lives For as long as I can remember I have been involved in numerous sports I can recall various coaches as well as teammates but I know there is one I will never forget He was my grade ten basketball coach I will always remember his hugs and how he somehow read my mind when I was having a bad day Not only was he a fantastic person but a remarkable basketball coach who I have learned a great deal from One day I hope to be a coach but will follow from his example and hopefully brook the qualities of what it takes to make a good basketball coach Firstly an important quality that constitutes a good coach is commitment Volunteering their own time to be at practices and giving up their weekends for tournaments An excellent coach is dedicated to helping not only the team succeed but also an individual accomplish a certain personal goal They commit themselves to develop the skills of the players and sharing the knowledge of the game The greater the emphasis of commitment a coach shows to the players the greater the players themselves will stress their own commitment to the team Secondly a quality of a good coach would be the portrayal of desire This is when a coach shows the same love for the sport and shares the same ambition as the players A great coach aspires players to accomplish their hopes and goals As well a great basketball coach teaches players how to want the game play the game with heart and determination They coach their players to give all their effort and to never give up An excellent basketball coach motivates players to become more and illustrates that hard work will be rewarding in the future Thirdly a vital
