Animation Throughout the 20th Century Animation has proven to have an irresistible magic that has been a major part of the film industry since its very primitive times in the early twentieth century The ability to make still pictures seem to move and have a character of their own has fascinated artists so much that they have sought to improve and master the art of animation It has not only inspired people of all ages but enhanced their lives in a way of seeing a whole different world of animation make believe and to see things that cannot happen in real life The skills of animation have improved so much throughout the twentieth century from the way the animation is drawn to the technology used to tell a story in moving pictures In early animation motion was captured by drawing frame by frame tediously perfecting each drawing to look as if it were moving Film was usually black and white in early times and was later in color mostly in Disney cartoons and films such as Fantasia Such films were made around the 1950s when most films live action and animated were still black and white Disney was one of the more advanced entertainment industries followed by Warner Brothers Chuck Jones was a major asset to Warner Brothers pictures He created over 200 WB cartoons It wasnt only the animators that contributed to the development of animation but also the artists who created the sound effects the directors and voice actors that helped the cartoons come alive Without the soundtrack animators would not be able to choreograph the animation with sound and music In earlier animation sound was manually put into the film Animation does not only consist of drawings made frame by frame but animation also used media such as clay or stop motion This example can be seen through the motion picture Star Wars
