Migration Migration like all elements in a science follows a specific model which can be used to study the process There are various factors which lead to a person making the decision to migrate weather internally within a country or even moving to a new country Even though these two situations may seem very distant they are still based on the same model However often times the decision for many to immigrate to a new country has more severe factors causing the migration Two of the most important elements in migration are push and pull factors Push factors cause someone to move away ie low wages no work poverty or bad weather Pull factors attract people to a new area These could be jobs universities weather girlfriends etc Along with these factors there is a decision making process which has been studied and documented According to these data the decision process is as follows 1 The perceived difference between ones home and destination 2 The effectiveness of the information flow or what the immigrants already living there are saying to the others in the mother state 3 The distance of the move Along with this it has also been proven that along with migration to the new area there is a reverse migration by those who simply can not adjust to the new location These elements of migration can be related to real life situation as I will attempt to do in the following paragraphs For my great Grandfather the decision to come to the United States must have been one of the biggest decisions of his life At the time he was in his early twentys He was in the Irish Military and the ship he was a crewmember of docked on the East Coast of the United States At that point he decided to Jump Ship and remain in the United States That seems easy enough but we can relate his
