The 1992 Los Angeles Riots seen through Front-line LA Riot fit a numerous amount of Professor Banefields theories They do indicate evidence of class problems and portray the governments handling of its responsibilities as poor and unorganized There are four motivations that imply a certain character to a riot rampage foray for pillage outburst of righteous indignation and demonstration They all display qualities dealing with the Los Angeles Riots Rampage expressed no pattern of violence from when it started The rioters burned buildings looted stores vandalized property and assaulted other people These violent acts were spontaneous carried out without any idea or thought behind them This exemplify that there was no pattern and all actions based on random destruction Another characteristic was the African American rioters had the feeling that they had been pushed around They believed that they had been by taken advantage of for a many years and this was a resurrection or a lashing out expressing that they have had enough These examples are the basis of Banefields theory of rampage The second motivation foray of pillage is shown through the cast system Foray of pillage usually involves the lower class rioting thus proving Banefields idea that the lower class is involved This leads to class conflict between the exploited class and expressive class The exploited class being the viewers or white media watching the riots filmed by helicopter The expressive class would then be the actual rioters themselves Motive is theft supports the pillage theory The motive of the rioters was to take and steal what they could to make there point across which was they wanted something better than what they felt they had The theory outburst of righteous indignation fits the Los Angeles riots best This rebellion was very spontaneous There was hardly any direction at all and everything was perceived as an injustice For example the Rodney King verdict and Natasha Halling incident propelled the
