Because Margaret Sanger was a nurse and witnessed so many complicated births miscarriages and unwanted pregnancies she made the decision to devote her life to making birth control legal and to educate young women who were in need of family planning It is because of her struggle that today women are now able to receive family planning information are more independent and are not slaves to men as well as to their own sexuality I think that Margaret Sanger is a good example of a revolutionary because she was willing to take on anything and fight for what she believed in I admire her will and determination Through her struggles and hardships she succeeded and exceeded her goals Margaret Louise Higgins was born in September of 1879 in Corning New York She was the sixth of eleven children When Margarets mother died of Tuberculosis at the age of fifty Margaret blamed her mothers premature death on her mothers frequent pregnancies and not on the familys poverty This is when Margaret decided to become a nurse With the help of her older sisters Margaret attended the Claverick College and the Hudson River Institute She then entered the nursing program at White Plains Hospital A few months before completing the nursing program in 1902 she met and married an architect named William Sanger Together they had three children and lived in a Westchester suburb of New York City However the suburban life did not suit the Sanger family By 1910 they moved to New York City Margaret returned to nursing after her family had settled down They became involved in the pre- war bohemian culture and joined a group of intellectuals activists and artists Soon Margaret became a member of the Liberal Club She also joined the Womens Committee of the New York Socialist Party and took part in the strikes and labor actions by the Industrial Workers of the World Her work as a visiting nurse
