Bridget's feedback:
"I enjoyed this blend of the personal with research and literary analysis; it reminded me of the conversational approach King uses in Danse Macabre. When employing a style suggestive of the casual or informal, mechanics and clarity remain important (perhaps even more so), so use a very thorough proofread to catch some errors and awkward phrasing. Cleaning up the mechanics can be done without sacrificing style and voice. Watch out for minor but impactful issues like possessive apostrophes, comma placement, and proper formatting of titles; this last one helps the reader differentiate, via visual cues, for form.
Beyond mechanics, I see opportunities to tighten up the prose and argumentation. For example, the quotation about Maine is quite long, and the follow-up sentence is redundant; cut that sentence ("From this quote...") and move immediately into, "It is this love..."; this more efficient movement will demonstrate control over the material and pacing. Similarly, clarifying what "It" in the last sentence of the second-to-last paragraph refers to (is it the quality of being interesting or of being unusual?) gives you one last chance to define your view on King as a writer."
