Survival motivation and satisfaction are the needs of healthy individuals that are being fulfilled in todays workplace Abraham Maslow set up a hierarchical theory of needs The physical needs were placed at the bottom and the human needs at the top This hierarchic theory can be seen as a pyramid with the base occupied by people who are not focused on values but just staying alive If our basic levels of needs our physiological needs are not met we are not particularly interested in the needs higher up the hierarchy These physiological needs are hunger thirst air and sleep A person that is starving thirsty hot and tired will not be a happy or productive worker In our workplace we have set up cold-water fountains snack machines coffee stations and rest areas in a convenient area with easy access for our the employees Each level of the pyramid is somewhat dependent on the previous level for most people The second level we reach after our physical needs have been met is the safety needs We have established in our workplace an atmosphere of security for our employees by issuing company badges on all employees and visitor badges for anyone in the building at any time so the employee can be reassured that everyone is checked out We set up evacuation procedures and have monthly drills in the event of a disaster We have also implemented open door policy for management so the employee can feel free to talk with his or her supervisor at any time without having an appointment This provides the employee a sense of security and well being The next level of hierarchy needs by Maslow is the sense of belongingness and love needs The needs to escape loneliness and alienation give and receive love affection and the sense of belonging is quite challenging in the workplace However it is very important it affects the other employees
