Jesus Legacy Many evils have been committed in the name of Jesus from the horrors of Nazi Germany to the Spanish Inquisition Christianity however has also had a good effect on many peoples lives through the spiritual guidance in his teachings When Jesus views the World and its history how does he views the legacy that bears his name I believe that he views some of the deeds done in his name as contemptible and loathsome but realizes that these deeds are not his real legacy He sees his real legacy in those who follow his teachings not those who use his name as a means of justifying their evil Many Christians throughout history have persecuted the Jews Most of this persecution stems from the idea that the Jews killed Jesus Germans during the Nazi era persecuted and killed over 6 million Jews They sent the Jews to slave labour camps and to death camps such as Auschwitz where many died in the gas chambers or from starvation and malnutrition related diseases The Nazis justified their systematic genocide in their own minds by telling themselves that they were avenging Christs death because the Jews had killed Jesus However many Germans failed to realize that Jesus and most of his followers were also Jews The people who had Jesus killed were in fact the religious fanatics of the time the power hungry high priest and Pharisees and the mob they stirred up against Jesus They also ignored Jesus messages of turning the other cheek and forgiveness if anyone strikes you on the right cheek turn the other also Matthew 539 and Peter came and s aid to Jesus Lord if another member of the church sins against me how often should I forgive As many as seven times Jesus said to him Not seven times but I tell you seventy-seven times Matthew 1821 Both of these plead forgiveness for those who wrong you and discourage
