The Unsuspected Third Murderer There are many different theories and opinions about who the Third Murderer may be Each suspect has his or her own attestation for being the Third Murderer and each suspect has a reasoning of why they arent There is always new pieces of substantiation emerging however the majority of the evidence supports Macbeths servant Seyton as the Third Murderer Macbeth obviously needed someone to make sure that the murderers were doing the deed correctly because they definitely werent from the area didnt know Banquo and Fleance well and were certainly not killers They actually didnt even blame Banquo for their unhappiness at first and didnt decide to kill him until after Macbeth convinced them to Macbeth could not fully trust two men of that character by themselves Seyton would have known Banquo and Fleance well enough to identify them from having probably spent time with him and Macbeth at Macbeths castle would have known the land even better from having worked there for so long and could have been trusted with such a deed With Seyton being one of the only people still on Macbeths side towards the end of the play it is obvious that he has done something previously to prove his loyalty and faithfulness The Third Murderer knows information that only a servant would know He says Almost a mile but he does usually-So all men do-from hence to th palace gateMake it their walk Act 3 Scene 3 Line 13 Only a servant would know the exact distance from where they were standing to the front door where the horses were kept and the way in which every single visitor travels to get into the castle Seyton because he is only a servant is not expected to attend the feast Macbeth is hosting Banquo is far to vague when telling Macbeth what time he should be returning from his ride and neither Lady Macbeth
