Ads r us by Claire Carmichael is a novel which is set in the near future where advertisement is a constant stream of noise and information After the death of Uncle Paul Barrett is forced to live in a modern world filled with technology with Aunt Kara Professor Adrian Stokes and Taylor Ads R Us provides us many examples of characters who simply cannot be trusted or have a secretFirstly an example of a character that cannot be trusted is Aunt Kara In the novel Taylor had realised that she was a human guinea pig and she was perfect for their experiments On page 160 Taylor said Since I was six or seven theyve had me implanted with a series of scanning devices Although Taylors Dad Adrian was also involved in the attempt as he helped Aunt Kara with the experiments Uncle Maynard was also a part of it I thought he was fond of me I really did But he was just using me like my parents This proves that Taylor cannot even trust her own parents Another example of a character is Senator Rox He is very deceptive because he acts friendly and nice but always has motives behind his reasons He is also very manipulative and always gets what he wants by lying about their benefits All he cares about is his reputation and money he will do anything to achieve it Senator Rox had also used Taylor for experiments That one might smile and smile and be a villain This quote refers to Senator Rox and how he acts like a villanThirdly in the novel Senator Roxs son Steve Rox was also a untrustworthy character He is very stone hearted and only cares about his reputation and status Steve Rox has no care for anything or anyone other than himself He is hoping to become rich and famous just like his Dad An example is when Hart died of Q-plaque he
