This photograph taken in Harlem captures the politics that existed atthat time The parade we see in the photograph happen to be one of thebest staged parades by the black nation However just by looking atthis photograph one can not simply know what is happening When I firstsaw the picture without knowing the title of the photograph which tellsyou this is the UNIA parade my perspective towards it were different Idid know who the figure sitting in the car was and neither did I knowwhat the photograph was trying to emphasize I assumed the people in thephotograph were perhaps business men as they were dressed in aprofessional manner as this is the way business men dress now a days inour society Some are also wearing a tie which is a formal clothingstyle of today I got really confused after noticing the structure ofthe car because I realized this can not be a recent photograph Howeverif I was able to recognize how Marcus looked than perhaps I would havean idea behind the photograph or what the photograph is trying toemphasize Marcus is not sitting alone in his car as we see peoplearound him giving him the respect and this shows that the idea of himbeing a leader is depicted very well We also see he has a driver andmany supporters are there accompanying him Looking at this photo my attention is dragged towards the feathered hatMarcus is wearing as it is distinct than the other hats people arewearing Slowly my eyes explore what Marcus is wearing and eventually Iglance over what the other figures are wearing and doing as wellEveryone in this photograph is depicted to be busy The only person whois looking towards the camera is the figure standing up and facing thefront The photograph is taken in a manner that the focus of attentionis only the important people who are working under Marcus These are thepeople that Marcus probably employed to work under him
