The Movie House of Sand and Fog is a film directed by Vadim Perelman This motion picture depicts the life of two characters who are fighting for the ownership of a house in an attempt to restore their broken lives Both characters Kathy and Behrani come from opposing backgrounds however they desire the same thing the house Desperate actions caused by distinct motives lead to unfortunate tragedies for both parties Kathy Nicolo is an emotionally troubled woman who isolates herself in her home Deserted by her husband her irresponsible behavior ultimately lead her to a mishap With that being said her house is mistakenly evicted where she is then left homeless After being advised from a sympathetic officer Kathy is determined to reclaim her house back The house represents as the only significant possession she has left Kathy places sentimental values on her house because she and her brother inherits it after her the death of her father whom had taken thirty years to pay off An addition to this Kathy does not want to appear as a failure to her mother who is supposed to pay a visit to herMassoud Amir Behrani on the other hand is a husband and father who is working hard day in and day out to save money so he can provide a better life for his family the way it was back in his country Behrani exiled from Iran where he was once a Colonel and had lived a luxurious life Image is a big deal to Behrani so much that he spends a grand wedding for his daughter and not to mention that he cleans himself up in a suit after a long day of work shoveling gravel In the hopes to regain his past as was his Persian life Behrani plans to sell the the investment home four times the amount he paid for to prove to everyone as well as his daughter and in-laws
