Women are gaining more protection and equal rights in civilized communities However the attention that society pays on women seems to be mostly because of their vulnerability and their important role in developing and nursing a family therefore a generation as well In fact despite of being sentimental and emotional creatures since early time in history women has been withstanding and handling matters that are not less than what a brave and adamantine man can take On the stream of literature the spirit power of women has been reflected in the female characters of fictions that carry the messages of macroscopic subjects Among the short stories as far as a century ago An Act of Vengeance by Isabel Allende and A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner of which backgrounds were set in the time around the Civil Wars of United States and Chile are two good examples of how the women deal with their tragedies under the moving of history wheel Succeeded with their extreme contents about Dulce Rosa Orellano and about Emily Grierson these two short stories use the irony in their act of bringing death to draw the tragic but dauntless manifestation of these two women in conflict with the environmentThe irony which involved love in both stories was encompassed when Dulce killed herself to make a revenge in An Act of Vengeance and Emily killed her lover as an act of love in A Rose for Emily The rationality only can be found in the irony of the love they got into Dulce and Emily both fell for the ones that they were not supposed to love In the story of Dulce the charming daughter of the Senator love happened in a dramatic twist of hatred Tadeo Cespedes was the one that killed her father her only family and raped her when she was a fifteen year old virgin In the setting of time Allende gave her major character Dulce
