In situations that are hard for us human beings a community needs a hero-like character to help them survive This instance occurs in many communities Throughout the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding leaders Ralph Jack and Simon have a huge impact on the littluns They look up to them for guidance and dirrection Firstly if a leader fails to notice the importance of the aspect of hope in a community will ruin the ability for the group to function properly Secondly when leaders do not ensure safety for the group they will not be able to have the ability to function When leaders do not recongnise their responsibilities to make good rules their actions affect the whole community at their feet stopping their growth and abilities to functionTo begin when the leader underestimates the aspect of holding onto hope in a community the group will suffer along with the leaders beliefs and effect the functionning of the group entirely Ralph suggested that the boys keep the fire alive and their hope to get rescued will too But he had many troubles keeping the boys on task His lack of leadership lead to the boys having no hope because they were too distracted by other things like having fun instead of keeping on task by keeping the fire goingThere was a ship Out there You said youd keep the fire going and you let it outThey might have seen us We might have gone homeAfter Ralph was elected as leader he thought that by making a fire it would increase the chances that they would get rescued by creating a signal to the boats and air crafts possibly passing by the island hopefully by his courageous father in the navy In Ralphs mind the fire symbolized the hope of being rescued When it was egnited so was the hope in his soul Ralph had a lot of
