The 1936 film Reefer Madness produced by Louis Gasnier is apropaganda film that made exaggerated claims about the use of marijuanaThroughout the film it is obvious that the producer made this movie toeducate on the use of the drug Although there was a good basis onproducing the film the claims made throughout it were incrediblysensational The film dramatically explains the effects of high schoolstudents and drug use and what happens when they are tempted byinfluencers to try marijuana The stories of marijuana use and thereharmful results on young teens was told by Dr Alfred Carroll whom wasreading a letter from the narcotics division The stories were verydramatic usage of the effects of marijuana such as raping homicidesuicide and accidents The movie Reefer Madness was made to causepowerful fright inquisitiveness and a dramatic approach on the use ofmarijuana Reefer Madness is sensational because it puts fright in viewers throughexaggerate claims in order to get the point across Marijuana is moreaddicting than morphine heroine and any other narcotics this quotein its self causes a tremble in ones body This quote and many scenesthroughout the film were used as a way of instilling fear in parentsteens and viewers The use of fright as a tool of educating allowed forparents to become open eyed towards what their child may be doingParents use this same method with their kids to stop their kids frommaking wrongful decisions In the film a high school student namedJimmy Lane went to the reefer party with his friend and Jack the drugdealer ran out of reefer Jimmy offered to take Jack since he was theonly one with a vehicle Jimmy takes Jack to the drug menace house andasks him for a cigarette and instead Jack hands him a reefer without himknowing Jack gets back in the car and Jimmy speeds off and hits apedestrian and later finds out that the innocent pedestrian passed awayThis scene in the movie is significant because it would make anyindividual
