The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a book about a child who faces Aspergers Syndrome which affects his communicating abilities The story is told through the perspective of an intelligent fifteen-year-old boy with autism The novel is not simply about disability its also about what you can do with words how relationships succeed what the importance of truth is and what it means to communicate with someone with a disability We should all read this book since it grants loads of information regarding what we should do as childrens or parents to succeed in lifeOne of the major problems that people with Aspergers Syndrome display is their inability to comprehend other peoples emotion This incapability to comprehend others emotions are revealed a lot throughout the story An example of Christophers lack of sympathetic for human emotions is shown when Siobhan illustrates faces that demonstrate an emotion and Christopher would have to guess what emotion is being shown I got Siobhan to draw lots of these faces and then write down next to them exactly what they meant I kept the piece of paper in my pocket and took it out when I didnt understand what someone was saying Haddon3 The fact that Christopher struggles with knowing the meaning of some of these faces shows just how difficult it is for him to understand emotions However the only difference between Christopher and us is that he notices a lot more of whats going on around him at a superior levelTruth is a major aspect of life that we in our own lives dont express In this novel it is the same situation however it informs us what the dilemma is if you dont tell the truth Frequently throughout the novel we are assured that lying is often easier than telling the truth For example Mr Boone lies to Christopher about his mothers death Mr Boone did not want to have to explain
