A character in Pearl Bucks The Good Earth that really stood out among the rest was O-lan O-lan was Wang Lungs wife she was a hard-worker and a thoughtful kind of person As a former slave she is extremely grateful that she is one of the few that has been able to wed At the beginning O-lan and Wang Lungs relationship was faithful and wonderful Their marriage took a toll when Wang Lung decided to have an affair with a woman by the name of Lotus O-lan was absolutely furious that this had happened Very soon her relationship with Wang Lung had begun to deteriorate Even through this depressing news she remained a faithful and strong-willed mother caring for her children and receiving to do motherly-like household dutiesThrough this love triangle that she is in she remains faithful The fact that Wang Lung bother does not to care and love O-lan anymore is absolutely infuriating He allowed Lotus to move in with his family in their home Not only was O-lan angry and sad at Wang Lungs atrocious decision but his children were absolutely appalled that something like this would happen in the first place Lotus wasnt welcomed very warmly she wasnt neither accepted by O-lan nor by the children Wang-Lung was man filled with lust Instead of sharing intimate moments with his wife O-lan he preferred Lotus Lotus was a toy a pleasure to him to satisfy his urge for lust On the other hand he used O-lan as what she had been before a slave O-lan was purely now used for work She had become a maid cleaning and feeding everyone and on top off that she alone took care of all the children She just had to deal with what her husband has chosen to do and deal with its consequences and hope for the best that something would change Even from early on in their marriage O-lan was always a
