Be the type of person who chooses not to put the dis in their ability In the story The Man Who Had No Eyes by MacKinlay Kantor Mr Parsons proved to have numerous admirable characteristics despite his disability to see A look at several examples in the story show how the traits of positivity successfulness and generosity apply to Mr Parsons Positivity was one of Mr Parsons most evident characteristics For example even though he could not actually see the landscapes he still enjoyed them The blue air of spring fresh from its memories of windy pools and lush shrubbery could thrill him with eagerness p 328 This quotation from the story helps to prove the previous statements because instead of being sad about not being able to see the landscapes anymore he instead was filled with excitement from the memories of it all Another example of his optimism is when he buys the lighter from Markwardt Even though he did not need the lighter he was still able to think of a use for it A final example of Mr Parsons positivity is the fact that he is glad to be alive And thought Mr Parsons he was very glad to be alive p 328 This thought that Mr Parsons had is kind of ironic because you would think that because he was blind he would not necessarily be glad to be alive However instead of focusing on how unfortunate it was to be blind he focused on the good things in his life All in all from examining these examples we see that Mr Parsons is very optimistic despite his disability to seeSuccess was plentiful in Mr Parsons life regardless of his disability One way that we can tell that he is successful is by looking at his appearance He was a handsome figure with his immaculate suit and grey hat and Malacca stick p 329 This quotation from the story
