Within a society an individual might come across the question on how they can distinguish between the truths and the lies One solution to this issue is to change the quality of the information presented to society Despite certain information being readily available to citizens sometimes it is censored by the government Having a firm basis on what is right and wrong allows an individual to make smarter choices The censorship of information has greatly suppressed the knowledge of todays citizens creating a dystopian society Ignorance is the cause of a societal dystopia Some say that a societal dystopia is not necessarily due to the ignorance of an individual within a society because this blame can partially be attributed to the geographic location in where he or she lives A person might live in a country where valuable information is withheld by the government Evidence of where obliviousness is the norm can be seen within modern day North Korea The citizens of North Korea have lived much of their totalitarian life shrouded in censorship from the government thus creating a form of a dystopian civilization in where mass media has become closely scrutinized by the government in the dissemination of controlled information In The Book Thief a story that takes place during the midst of World War I the Nazi government uses similar tactics as well to manipulate the society much like in communist North Korea They use mass propaganda to incorporate their beliefs into the minds of millions Both the citizens of Germany and North Korea are not at fault for their obliviousness as only the manipulated truth becomes forced upon the citizens through propaganda The root for all of the ignorance that is prevalent in modern society is the government which in turn results in a dystopian civilization Within the story Brave New World by Aldous Huxley the author describes the downfall of the society as a whole due to the ignorance
