Despite all the talk of robbing and pillaging the boys are still purely innocent Even with the blood oath it is clear that the boys do not mean to accomplish their dire objectives First of all the boys agree not to meet during Sundays The gang agrees that it is wicked to do their deeds on a Sunday It shows that although the boys agree to robbing and pillaging they are still good Christian men who have to obey God or their parents Before the boys leave for the night they already contradicted their blood oath When Tommy Barnes threatens to divulge the gangs secrets Tom merely gives Barnes five cents to keep quiet Yet Tom Sawyers blood oath binds the boys to the agreement that nobody will divulge any secrets The gang members will cut the throats of people who tell secrets This violation shows that the boys are not really serious about killing and robbing despite their blood oaths The boys still are reluctant to kill because the boys still have their childhood innocence Third of all the boys do not even know how to rob Tom Sawyer constantly mentions that he borrowed some ideals from pirate books and robber books Ransomed Whats that I dont know But thats what we got to do Ive seen it in books 9 This clearly indicates that these children are innocent and still dont understand the cruel nature and deeds of men They are merely just little children playing make-believe games Finally the raid on the Arabs and elephants further supports the innocence of these children Tom tells his troops to ready their guns and swords The gang then ventures out and attack a Sunday school class with an arsenal of lath and broom-sticks None of the students in the class
